What is the Cologne List? The Cologne List® offers athletes and those around them guidance on the use of nutritional supplements (NEM). Products tested with a minimized doping risk are published on the Cologne list.
Many athletes of different performance levels use NEM. The Cologne List® does not assess the usefulness or effect of taking NEM. The Cologne List® attempts to minimize the risk of unconscious doping offenses (among test pool athletes) and damage to health.
In an initial study on the subject in 2004, approximately 15 percent of dietary supplements purchased in 13 different countries contained anabolic steroids (mainly prohormones) that were not listed on the package. In Germany, around 11 percent of the dietary supplements tested contained banned anabolic steroids. The situation has fundamentally improved, among other things, through the creation of the Cologne List® 2006. Products that voluntarily undergo laboratory analyzes by a recognized anti-doping program such as the Cologne List® have a significantly reduced risk of containing banned substances.
Service for test pool athletes
For test pool athletes, it is also advisable to have a consultation with a nutritionist or doctor before taking an NEM. Likewise, test pool athletes should attempt to obtain products from tested batches. The new availability service from the Cologne List® helps here.
Athletes stand for the liquid multivitamin and mineral product ALP SPORT Availability service the Cologne list is available.
Thanks to the newly developed concept of the availability platform, athletes have the opportunity for the first time to use the Cologne List product database to purchase products whose batches have been previously tested for the presence of doping substances.
ALP SPORT is on the Cologne list:
“We very much welcome the newly created availability platform, as it offers athletes the opportunity to only purchase products from tested batches via the stored purchase option, which further reduces the risk of doping.”
says Dr. Oliver Schnorr, Managing Director of ALP NUTRITION GmbH and advisor to many top athletes on nutritional issues and the use of nutritional supplements.
In the past, it was often very difficult to obtain exactly the tested product batches in stores, pharmacies or over the Internet.
“We know that ALP SPORT is used by a number of athletes subject to the doping control system. We wanted to give these athletes an additional feeling of security with the new service.
