Why are micronutrients so important for our body?

In contrast to macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat, protein), micronutrients do not contain energy in the form of calories, but fulfill a variety of metabolic functions so that the body can metabolize the energy/calories contained in macronutrients.
The various B vitamins, for example, fulfill numerous functions in energy metabolism, so that the energy contained in sugars and carbohydrates can be broken down and used as cellular energy for the cells.
